Andrew Bonnycastle's painting of a woman admiring Claude Monet's Water Lilies painting at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City

Pondering

A young woman at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City admires Claude Monet's 1919 painting Water Lilies.  Monet was known to be reluctant to part with his later works, especially his iconic paintings of the water lilies in his garden pond.  This painting and three others are unusual in that Monet painted them with the intention of selling.  Monet describes these works in a letter to his art dealers telling them how he was "working on them passionately."
