Mother and Child
A mother and daughter contemplate Pablo Picasso's Blue Period painting La Soupe at the Art Gallery of Ontario. La Soupe was originally owned by the Stein Family. Gertrude Stein and her brother Michael would regularly "liberate" paintings from each other. When Michael was away for the weekend, Gertrude would would go to his apartment, select a few paintings, and carry them back to hang on her walls. Michael would then wait for Gertrude to have a luncheon appointment and would then go to raid Gertrude's walls. This harmless fun went on for many years with paintings being ferried back and forth from home to home.
