Of Every Stripe
A lady at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City stands in front of Dutch artist Piet Mondrian’s painting Trafalgar Square. Mondrian became known as a pioneer of 20th century modern art with his abstract geometric style and strong theories on art. This painting was the first in a series of works titled after the places that provided the artist refuge and where each work was created. Sensing the political climate of Europe was changing, Mondrian moved from Paris, France to London, England in 1938 and it was Trafalgar Square where he established his new studio.
